Immigration activists try to revive issue

Immigration activists have taken to Capitol Hill as they try to put the issue back on the agenda.

The oil spill in the Gulf Coast has taken the attention away from immigration, which key Democrats had vowed to address this year. Instead, Congressional leaders are now pushing an energy bill and planning to tackle unemployment ahead of midterm elections.

.... The pro-immigrant activists on Capitol Hill Tuesday are members of Immigration Voice , a group that advocates on behalf of high-skilled workers who come to the U.S. on work visas. The organization is part of a larger coalition that favors a comprehensive immigration overhaul.
Aman Kapoor, the group's president, said the focus of the lobby day is easing the visa process for high-skilled employees who want to stay in the U.S. permanently........

On June 7th and June 8th 2010, around 150 high-skilled professionals including scientists, engineers and doctors will converge in Washington DC to meet with the nation’s lawmakers on the Capitol Hill. The post dedicated to the Man himself: Mr. Aman Kapoor who is the guiding force and founder of Immigration Voice. His tireless hard work and dedication to the cause is an inspiration to all of us.

He and others in IV team are actively managing this effort even after some got their Green Cards. This is certainly praise worthy.
